El bosque de niebla de “Las Cañadas”, mantiene una gran diversidad de aves entre las que se encuentran: el “Chivizcoyo” (Dendrortix barbatus) y el “Mulato” (Melanotis caerulescen), ambas endémicas.

This compilation is the result of field observations performed at the private reserve Las Cañadas by Julio C. Gallardo, and is complemented by the field observations of Sergio H. Aguilar, Sergio Cabrera, Andrea Cruz, P. B. Garrido, Eduardo Leyva, Amy E. McAndrews, F. Meza, Jorge E. Montejo, Pedro Mota, Robert Straub and Sergio de Haro Guijarro. Scientific names, English names and order are current with the American Ornithologists’ Union (AOU 1998) and its recent supplements; Spanish names follow Escalante et al (1996); protection categories originate from NOM-059-ECOL-2001; status (ST) following the scientific names of species is based on Howell and Webb (1995) and personal observations. Species endemic to Mexico are indicated by an asterisk (*) following the scientific name.
